Holidaycheck complaint against Google

The German hotel rating portal Holidaycheck complained to the European Union against Google, accusing it of benefit from its dominant position to promote its own offerings, announced his boss to the German media.
"Google was previously neutral, proposed research results and selling advertising," said Gilles Despas, boss Holidaycheck, the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung on Friday. The newspaper circulated in advance excerpts of the interview.

"Now Google has developed its own products and the presence of other brands in search results decreases," continued Mr. Despas. The company filed a complaint for abuse of dominant position and anti-competitive practices. Holidaycheck, which operates sites for evaluation and comparison of hotels and resorts in eight countries, including France, is a provider of internet content German Tomorrow Focus, itself majority-owned by Burda Media Group.
